Never in a million years did I ever think I would do a triathlon. Biking never appealed to me and I like to swim but never wanted to get kicked in the head while I swam. It all began when a few of my friends started talking to me about triathlons and how much fun they are. Well, I will try anything once. So I did! I competed in Westborough Triathlon with two friends. In the summer of 2011, I was introduced to a great athlete, who is now my coach. She gave me the confidence and training plan to finish my first half iron distance triathlon. She is amazing and a huge supporter and believes in my abilities.
Running, biking and swimming well, it makes up a big part of who I am. I met so many awesome people through both running and triathlon who I know will be lifelong friends. Some of them I don't know where I would be without them. You make strong bonds while on long rides and long training runs -- people I wouldn't trade for the world.
I am a mom, a wife, professional, an athlete, and good friend to so many people. It is hard to get people to understand where you are coming from if they don't share the same interest. I know most people support me but the ones that truly support me are there every step of the way see me at my highs and see me at my lows when I just can't bare to train another minute. And those are the people that pull me through and inspire me from the sidelines, send that text on race day wishing me luck or lace up and drag me out training. Those are the people who are there to watch me compete and know what has gone into me getting to the start line. I am starting this blog to share with you my training bloopers, successes and failures. I want you to laugh and experience the journey with me.
